Description of SB 952

Anatomical Gifts -- Organ Donor Cards

Governor Bush signed SB 952 on May 23, 1997. SB 952 becomes effective September 1, 1997.

Under current law, persons wishing to be an organ donor may indicate their wishes on their driver's licenses. SB 952 does away with the driver's license method of indicating organ donor intent in favor of donor cards to be provided by organ transplant organizations. These donor cards will be distributed at driver's license offices and elsewhere.
